Richard B.
Miller, Ph.D., is the Director of the Poynter Center
and Professor of Religious Studies at Indiana University.
His research interests focus on issues in the ethics of
war and peace; practical reasoning in public life; and
medical ethics, with special attention to children. He
teaches courses on religion and public life; the ethics of
war and peace; biomedical ethics; religion, justice and
culture; and religion and the self. Miller is the author
of Interpretations of Conflict: Ethics, Pacifism, and
the Just-War Tradition (1991); Casuistry and
Modern Ethics: A Poetics of Practical Reasoning
(1996); and Children, Ethics, and Modern Medicine
(2003), along with numerous articles and book chapters on
the ethics of humanitarian intervention, civic virtue,
multiculturalism, and religion and public intellectuals.

Brian Schrag, Ph.D., is a Senior Scholar at Indiana
University and a Faculty Associate at the Poynter Center
for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions. He is
Executive Secretary for the Association for Practical and
Professional Ethics. His research interests include
practical and professional ethics; teaching research
ethics; research ethics; organizational loyalty; ethics of

Kenneth D.
Pimple, Ph.D., Director of Teaching Research Ethics
Programs, has over ten years of experience in organizing
faculty workshops on ethics and research ethics. His major
projects are the Teaching Research Ethics Workshop and
Scientists and Subjects: An Online Seminar on the Ethics

Robert Crouch is a research assistant at the Poynter
Center. He has interests in political philosophy, philosophy of science, and bioethics.
Along with colleagues at the University of Virginia and the NIH, he edited the book,
